Fresh Snow!
Bowling fun
This year since Pat and Sue (Kelly's parents) were coming to visit after Christmas we decided to get them an 'experience' gift of a snowshoe and bonfire tour through Wanderlust Tours. This is the same company we went with this summer when we did the moonlight canoe trip on Sparks lake with some friends. This time it would be a snowshoe hike at night with a bonfire waiting for us! We were in for an extra special treat last night as it was snowing like mad up in the mountains making for a real winter outing with fresh powder to snowshoe through! Waiting for us was a carve snow seating with seating pads, a fire, treats from sparrow bakery and warm drinks with your choice of spirits if you like. I selected the crater lake hazelnut vodka by Bend distillery with my hot chocolate!
Great fun and highly recommended by all of us.
Sunriver is a destination resort and small village about 15 minutes south of Bend, that we enjoy going to now and again. Its Dec 26 and the sun was shining today so we thought it would make for a fun afternoon.
Here is a pano shot towards the mountains. You can see Abbie and PJ playing in the left side of the shot on the snow covered golf course.
Kelly, Sue, Hunter, Noah and Abbie went skating at the Sun River Ice Rink, while PJ and I watched and took a train ride. Abbie had some trouble remembering how to skate so we got her the walker and then within about 5 minutes she was done with the walker.
We finished off the evening with a winter fire on the back patio.
It's been green since thanksgiving. It's started raining this morning and the immediately turned to snow so we will have a white Christmas this year.
We all got hot drinks and walked around the neighborhood to look at the Christmas lights with the new snow, and then opened the first gift of Christmas!
Grest evening with friends for drinks, dinner and a Christmas white elephant exchange.
PJ was disappointed this week when he went to lick the giant candy canes in our neighbors yard and much as he tried it would not taste right.
