Some pics from Halloween 2014. Noah didn't get his pumpkin carved last weekend so he did it tonight. Unfortunately Hunter was ill this evening so while he walked around with us, he didn't dress up as Darth Vader as he had planned. We brought back the driveway fire that we used to do in Boise for the trick or treaters and with the cool evening it was a welcome treat for kids and parents. Pappie (Kevin's dad) gave out candy while we walked around the neighborhood and we shared duties after returning.
Nothing like Pumpkin carving, seed roasting followed by a nice fire to end a cool and crisp fall day.
Less than 1.5 months ago I was camping here at Sparks lake in the central Oregon Cascades with Hunter and Noah. Hopefully this is a good sign for the upcoming ski season!
Tonight (Oct 25) there was a Halloween party at the High Desert museum. It was a ton of fun, with spooky walks through the living exhibits, crafts, stories, creepy critters (petting snakes etc), and the highlight - candied bugs! Yes - real bugs! Kevin tried the chocolate, coconut crickets, but he was the only one brave enough to try... oh except Abbie who picked up the chocolate chip cookies with crickets and ate one before she realized what it was. I would definitely go to this again next year!
My dad and I did the tour of Deschutes Brewery today. Deschutes is the oldest and largest craft brewery in Bend. They started in 1988 with 3 beers. They are now sold in 27 states.
Beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon in October so we decided to take Pappy to the Pumpkin patch. The last time we were here was October 2011. It amazed us how commercialized this particular pumpkin patch has become... and busy! Still fun though.
