Tonight we went to watch Hunter play the guitar at school with his band, "The Pink Bow Ties."
It was a fun evening. These kids have such talent! 🎀💓🎶🎸
Today we went to the Metolious River just outside of the town of Sisters near Camp Sherman to watch a reenactment of the Civil War. It was well done and the kids loved it.
Saturday we participated in the 6k for Water in Bend. This event was put on by my friend through World Vision and to raise money and awareness for children in developing countries to get clean water.
The average person in developing countries walk 6 kilometers each day (about 4 miles) to get water. As a family we each sponsored a child. On our shirts we wore their picture with their name, age and the country they are from. Walking almost 4 miles really made it real for us and made us think about how easy it is for us to get water but how this is not the case for others who have to walk miles to get it.
The kids were amazed that children each day do this. It made the run a whole lot more meaningful. It was a great day and a wonderful cause!
We know it wasn’t a race to see who could finish first but Hunter came in 2nd place and Noah in 3rd place. We are so proud of our runners always pushing themselves to do their best.
Kevin arranged for Hunter and his friends to go to the DIY cave to build something with wood. Kevin found a cool chair design. He went and got the wood for the project and the instructor and the DIY cave guided the boys as they built their camp fire chair. After the boys did their wood working they came back to our house for games food and fun. I think it's safe to say that Hunter had a great 13th birthday.

Kevin took Noah, Abbie and Preston to the school performance and I went to the meet. Kevin was able to grab this picture before running out the door.
Kevin asked some close male family and friends to write a letter to Hunter on his 13th birthday. He asked that the letters offer advice, words of wisdom, encouragement, verses or quotes as he journeys into his teenage years and is becoming a young man. Kevin hopes that these letters will be a keep sake for Hunter and a guide for him to refer to over the years.
Out of all Hunter's birthday gifts the letters were his favorite. He loves to read them and keeps them right on his dresser so he can see them.
The power of encouraging words from influential men in Hunter's life means a lot.

Today was the school jog a thon and our kids did awesome. Noah ran a marathon is 5 1/2 hours!!! Abbie ran a half marathon and Preston 10 miles. Poor Hunter pulled a muscle in his track meet yesterday and was only able to run for a bit today. So proud of our runners!!!
This guy turned 13 today! We are now parents of a teenager. Hunter is still as sweet as he was when he was a little boy. We are looking forward to this next phase and getting to watch him grow into a wonderful young man. ❤💜💙
Hunter ran in his second track meet last week and did vey well. He ran the 400 meter (1 full lap) and the 110m hurdles. He came in 4th place out of 8 runners in the 400 and 3rd place in the hurdles out of 8 runners. So proud of him for doing such a great job.
