This is our third summer going to Black Butte and it’s now an annual tradition to go and celebrate the start of summer.
We did a day outing to Sahalie & Koosah falls with a great riverside hike in between the two.
We did a fun early summer Sunday family hike with the Lovejoy's to the Paulina lake hot springs.
My friend Mark got a couple of snow machines recently so we rode them from Mt Bachelor where this road is closed for the winter to Todd lake to do some skiing. Cold and crisp morning - great fun.
We kicked off Summer Vacation 2019 with a Weekend trip to Black Butte. One of our favorite places close to home. 69/70 degrees with sun and cool evenings. We did some swimming, biking and exploring. Our first evening - we celebrated the summer solstice with dinner at the main pool.

This weekend, as an early celebration of his 14th birthday with his friends, we did a ski day up at Mt Bachelor. The snow conditions this spring are amazing. The coverage of snow is incredible considering its almost May. Kelly packed us an amazing lunch that we ate in the parking lot for lunch. After skiing we stopped in town for pizza. If you are trying to pick out Hunter and Noah - Noah has the bright green pants and the blue jacket on skis. Hunter is in all black with a grey helmet on a snowboard.
Kelly and I went up x-country skiing this afternoon with Holly. Kids wanted to just play at the house so we had a date!
We missed the lunar eclipse last night due to cloud cover, but awoke to a beautiful moonset this morning coming down right behind North Sister.
